ToC series (I): Finally – The difference between Logframes and ToCs

by Oct 30, 2022

Besides taking evaluation assignments, sometimes engage into facilitating the ellaboration of the Theories of Change (ToC) of organizations. In 2017 I had the chance to develop the 25 ToCs of the UNICEF Indonesia Country Programme (some about it here).

This quarter I am really enjoying developing ToCs to complement the Country Strategic Plan of some WFP Asian Country Offices. The first one is being Nepal (loving all of it) and I have decided to share some posts about the process and the LL.

First topic. When I explain what a ToC is, I get this question a lot:

What is the difference between a ToC and the logframe (or results framework) we work with?

So I have developed more examples so people see the difference between these two complementary tools – according to my view:

And in case some evaluation commissioners wish to use it as the front sheet of their ToRs, here I share a downloadable template in Powerpoint. Evaluators will love it! Thank you 🙂
